Many childhood health conditions are traditionally managed by treating symptoms rather than addressing the underlying causes. While medications can often provide temporary relief, symptoms frequently return when the root problem remains unresolved.

As a pediatrician with more than 20 years of experience, I believe that true healing begins with understanding why a child developed a particular condition in the first place. This is where Functional Medicine offers a different perspective.

I believe that symptoms are often the body's way of signaling deeper underlying imbalances. Rather than asking only “What disease does this child have?”, I also ask “Why is this child experiencing these symptoms?”

What Functional Medicine Looks For

Functional Medicine is a science-based, patient-centered approach that aims to identify and address the root causes of disease rather than simply suppressing symptoms.

Every child is unique, and chronic health conditions often result from a complex interaction of genetics, nutrition, gut health, immune function, environmental exposures, lifestyle factors, and emotional well-being.

Allergic and Immune Conditions

  • Food allergies and sensitivities
  • Eczema and atopic dermatitis
  • Allergic rhinitis and chronic nasal congestion
  • Asthma and recurrent respiratory symptoms
  • Frequent infections

Ear, Nose and Throat Concerns

  • Enlarged adenoids
  • Recurrent ear infections
  • Chronic mouth breathing
  • Sleep-disordered breathing

Gastrointestinal Disorders

  • Chronic constipation
  • Gastroesophageal reflux
  • Abdominal pain
  • Bloating and digestive discomfort
  • Functional gastrointestinal disorders

Neurodevelopmental and Behavioral Challenges

  • ADHD
  • Autism Spectrum Disorder
  • Learning and attention difficulties
  • Behavioral concerns
  • Sleep problems

A Comprehensive Pediatric Evaluation

Many of these conditions are often managed with symptom-based treatments alone. However, when the underlying triggers are not identified, lasting improvement may remain difficult to achieve.

Through a comprehensive evaluation, Functional Medicine investigates potential contributing factors such as food sensitivities, nutritional deficiencies, gut microbiome imbalances, chronic inflammation, immune dysregulation, environmental toxins, sleep disturbances, and lifestyle influences.

By identifying and correcting these imbalances, we aim to support the body's natural ability to heal and function optimally.

Helping Children Thrive

My goal is not only to help children feel better today but also to improve their long-term health, development, and quality of life.

By combining evidence-based pediatrics with the principles of Functional Medicine, I aim to support the body's natural healing capacity, optimize long-term health outcomes, and help children thrive physically, emotionally, and developmentally.

Because every symptom has a story, and every child deserves the opportunity to reach their fullest health potential.
